Whimsical Garden Party

image

Do you have a little girl who yearns to escape into the extraordinary world of a fairytale? This week we’ll make these girls’ dreams come true by walking you through how simple it can be to create an enchanted garden party right in your own backyard. Guest starring Sophia, the inspiration behind Petite & Sweet, and featuring products from Creative Bag, watch us transform an ordinary space into one fit for Disney!

Before beginning the planning process, start off by creating a mood board to organize your thoughts. We were inspired by whimsical tea cups, bird cages, colourful fruit, moss, and enchanting butterflies.

image

On a hot summer day, light, fresh food is essential. We love offering kids some healthy options along with their sweet treats. Paying attention to details is important in executing a perfect table. To carry our theme throughout the table, we placed cherries in tea cups, grapes on skewers with tiny rosettes stacked into mini nests, and strawberries on a mini pedestal. What better way is there to serve fresh fruit?

image

To add a quirky flair to the table, we placed mini raspberry cupcakes inside birdcages, and placed delicious shortbread cookies and cupcakes on tiered platters, available at Creative Bag

To keep things light and refreshing, we served a chilled raspberry lemonade. Every little girl wants to feel like royalty, so pour the lemonade out in tea cups to make her feel special.

We always recommend choosing one floral and using it throughout the table. To add a whimsical flare, we were inspired to use a beautiful birdcage we found at Creative Bag as a vessel for bunches of pink garden peonies.

image

To add a special touch, we created a backdrop filled with moss and butterflies. Check out the steps below to create your very own.

A Party for the Fellas

The men in our lives rarely get thought of when we enter party planning mood. After all, the ribbons, pastel colours, and flowers don’t exactly scream “man.” But with Father’s Day approaching we put the focus on the fellas on our newest episode on Petite & Sweet TV. This week, our wonderful partner, Creative Bag and ourselves will put all our girly instincts aside to teach you how to plan an event for that special man in your life. Whether it’s for Father’s day, a birthday, anniversary, or just simply because, make him feel special with these simple tricks.

image

We wanted to show our viewers how simple it can be to create a theme that the men would appreciate. We chose to focus on a “Business Man” theme for our first table. As always, we took our inspirations, including cigars, newspapers, suits, and oranges and created a mood board to organize our thoughts.

image

It’s a fact that all men love food, but the “Business Man” tends to enjoy the finer things in life. Keeping our tale sophisticated, we placed chocolate covered almonds in glass jars, chocolate cupcakes with orange zest buttercream topped with pistachios, and chocolate cigars on our table. Treat your guy to delicious cupcakes by following the recipe below!

image

           image

This week we brought a special guest on the show, Sabrina Greer, who designed a specialty cocktail for our “Business Man.” Take a look below for a recipe to the delicious Not-So-Old-Fashioned signature cocktail with bourbon and orange zest.

image

Whether they enjoy it or not, the business men in our lives wear suits daily and often read the paper. To add a special touch to this table, we covered our table with Newspaper printed wrapping paper. We also placed napkins folded as dress shirts on the table. To learn how you can create these original napkins at home, follow the six easy steps below.

Printables are a must on any Petite & Sweet table as they add an element of creativity. We wanted the guys to have some fun at his party, so we created some funny photo-booth props that you can download and print for free below!

When the business day is over, there are few men who wouldn’t want to unwind by watching a game on the couch. For our second table, we took cues from favourite sports like golf and baseball as well as the colours white, green, and red.

image

This table featured delicious chocolate covered bacon, chocolate cupcakes, white chocolate caramelized ‘baseball’ macarons that we drew on with red edible marker, and cake pops. Bacon is definitely an all time favourite food, if you’d like to make chocolate covered bacon at home, just follow the recipe below.

image

Sabrina Greer worked her magic once again to create a specialty cocktail called The Gold Medal. Made with tons of cold beer and topped with pickles and more bacon, the lucky guy in your life will definitely owe you one when you make him this satisfying drink by following the recipe below.

imageTo customize this table, we used wooden risers from Creative Bag, and painted them green with white field lines to complete our “Sporty Dad” look.

image

Once again, for a little fun, we created a large foam finger with MVD (most valuable dad or most valuable dude) written on it. You can download the printables for free below!

Weekly Round-Up, Vol. 2

Last week was a doozy!

We kicked off Monday with a 12 ft. long sweet table for Sloane Capital Corp. for the PCMA event held at the Exchange Tower in downtown Toronto. Our previous table for Sloane Capital Corp. was classy and sophisticated. This time, we aimed to keep it sophisticated but more modern.

With berry tarts, cake pops, macarons, and custom popcorn boxes, chocolate bars, and chocolate cigars, it was a (delicious) smash!

image

image

On Wednesday, we shot a new video for our Youtube channel, PetiteandSweetTV, that was tailored for men. Expect alcohol, desserts… and maybe even bacon!

image

Friday, we had one two events at Holt Renfrew Yorkdale. The first was the launch of a new fragrance by Jo Malone. Silk Blossom is light and refreshing, perfect for the summer months!

image

On the same day, we created a coffee table floral installation for Edie Parker, composed of peonies and garden roses. The clutches floated above the flowers to create a magical effect.

image

image

image

image

This week we also launched our partnership with Pusateri’s! We’ll share more about this very soon. Prepping to deliver to three stores can be a lot of work but with a great team, the job gets done quickly!

image

We finished the week off with a classic summertime treat. We created a lemonade stand for Oliver Peoples at Holt Renfrew Yorkdale. Who says you’re too old for lemonade stands?

Until next week,

Weekly Round-Up, Vol. 01

Hey everyone! Welcome to the first edition of our Weekly Round-Up!

Now that spring has (finally) sprung and summer is on its way, things are getting crazy busy around here. We have so much to do throughout the week that we think we should share them with you all!

image

This week on #macaronmondays we featured our Espresso macaron, our favourite dessert to take with coffee!

image

image

The warm weather this week really got us in the mood to celebrate Spring. We also did some Spring cleaning and made some major changes to our office set-up! Taking care of business, indeed.

image

image

An event for Telus Health this week required macarons made in their signature colours. Packing 1,350 of these macarons was no joke!

And finally, this week Holt Renfrew hosted the LuxInside exhibition at Yorkdale Shopping Centre. It was a pleasure to cater this event full of fabulous French cuisine, fashion, art, and science, all put together in a beautiful setting.

Popcorn Done Two Ways

Popcorn is a food everyone enjoys, mostly when they’re curled up on the couch by the T.V. This week on Petite & Sweet TV we wanted to disprove the misconception that popcorn is just a food for lazy movie nights. For this week’s video we’ve created two mini tables along with Creative Bag, to prove that popcorn can be used for any occasion!

Our first table is inspired by an old-fashioned movie-going experience and the colours red, white, and black.

image

We’ve used two different types of vessels for the popcorn. For those who love a bit of extra flavour, we chose to use a closed box with pre-measured seasoning that guests can just pickup and shake.

We’ve also included open boxes filled with plain popcorn and set out salt shakers with vinegar, ketchup, and cinnamon seasoning so that guests can have some control over the amount of flavour they would like. Both types of boxes fit perfectly with our old-fashioned experience and can be purchased from Creative Bag.

image

Candy always makes a great addition! For a combination of salty and sweet treats, we’ve laid out jars of raspberry jujube’s and chocolate buttons. Whether you add it to your popcorn or not, it’s always nice to have a little something for those with a sweet tooth at your party.

image

Keeping our theme in mind, we chose to offer old-fashioned coke bottles for refreshments along with red and white stripped straws from Creative Bag

image

Creating an invitation for your event is a great way to set the tone for your party. We’ve also created movie stub labels to let our guests know what they’ll be nibbling on. You can download both the invitation and tags for free below!

image

Please click here!

We love keeping our tables interactive, so we created a vintage T.V. out of foam core for guests to take some goofy pictures with. Watch how the pictures will become sillier as the night progresses!

Our Second table is inspired by shades of purple and fresh lavender.

image

To create an elegant look, we drizzled white chocolate and lavender over the popcorn. This is an easy and fast way to add a bit of flavour and sophistication to your popcorn. If you would like to try this at home, just follow the instructions below!

imageWe placed the popcorn into paper cones that we wrapped in purple wrapping paper. We also used scalloped boxes that we customized by painting purple flowers overtop.

 image

To carry our lavender theme throughout the table, we used purple ribbon over various vessels to create different levels on the table.

Its always nice to have a single floral on the table. We placed fresh lavender on top of a stack of old books to add some height to our table. We also placed a single strand of fresh lavender into each of the straws in the champaign flutes.

Petite & Sweet BLOOMS at Yorkdale

image

This May, we had the pleasure of working with Holt Renfrew at Yorkdale Shopping Centre in Toronto to do a pop-up shop for Petite & Sweet BLOOMS. With Mother’s Day this month, we wanted to offer shoppers the opportunity to purchase flowers for the most fabulous woman in their life.

image

image

We kept it simple with fringed tulips, tulips, hydrangeas and pink roses. Shoppers walking by stood in awe of the fringed tulips, asking us if they were real. Although they look too good to be true, they’re real, folks!

Petite & Sweet TV: Rustic Outdoor Party

Our excitement for Victoria Day long weekend has got our team in the mood to throw a rustic outdoor party for this weeks’ episode. This woodland inspired party sets the perfect atmosphere to relax and have some fun with friends over the many warm weekends ahead. Keep reading below for pictures, free recipes, and tutorials that will help you recreate this beautiful look at home. Remember to check out our partner’s site, Creative Bag for all the supplies you see on our table today, and please share our video and blog with friends and family!

image

Step One:

As always, start off the planning process by creating yourself a mood board. This helps to guid you in the right direction as you move forward with the planning. This week found inspiration in green, neutrals, burlap and birch to create a woodland themed table. You can go to petiteandswee.ca or follow us on Pinterest for some great ideas.

Step Two:

When I think of an outdoor party, I think comfort food. On this weeks table, we put mini jars of milk with chocolate stuffed cookies, mini cupcakes, and homemade brownies. For a special touch, we made a s’mores station to bring a little bit of youthful fun to the party. Check out our recipe for refreshing mint marshmallows below and watch the video to learn how you can create a simple s’mores station for your guests to enjoy without the campfire.

image

Step Three:

It’s a great idea to offer your guests a drink option that pairs well with the food. In our case we chose to offer a chilled hot chocolate that guests can serve themselves. Take a look at the recipe below so you can enjoy this delicious drink at home!

image

Step Four:

It’s always important to customize your sweet table. For our woodland table, we used a personalized stamp on the napkins to tie in our theme. We also wrapped wooden cutlery with a wood medallion that has our guests initials written in black permanent marker with some twine. This is a great way to make your guests feel special and eliminates the needs for place holders. A great assortment of stamps, as well as all the vessels on our table can be found online at Creative Bag!

image

Step Five:

In order to create an experience for our guests, we created a Polaroid station out of pieces of birch. Leave a Polaroid camera out for guests to snap fun pictures throughout the night and hang up for everyone to enjoy.

Step Six:

Providing your guests with a takeaway is a great way to end the night. This week we put together a “corny nut” package that includes a mix of popcorn and nuts. To make this giveaway extra special, we tied the package with a friendship bracelet made from twine. Take a look below for all the materials you’ll need to assemble this takeaway!
