Weekly Round-Up, Vol. 3

Happy Monday!

Last week, we celebrated two graduations on the Petite & Sweet team and Cheryl’s birthday, complete with nachos and cocktails! It was a great opportunity to celebrate and bond as a team. Congratulations to our grads, Cindy and Cheryl!

On Thursday, we had a photo shoot at the Petite & Sweet bakery! Pictures will be up soon on our website and we can’t wait! Our friends at Now Creative Group are amazing to work with. Check out some behind-the-scenes photos:

We had a chance to check out our display at Pusateri’s. Our macarons are available in all three locations in Toronto so make sure stop by and tell them we sent you.

This week, we also held our very first macaron workshop! Between all the sugar and laughter, the girls had a lot of fun and the macarons came out great.

To book a workshop for a group (max. ten people), please call 647-348-7700 for more info.

Until next week,

A Party for the Fellas

The men in our lives rarely get thought of when we enter party planning mood. After all, the ribbons, pastel colours, and flowers don’t exactly scream “man.” But with Father’s Day approaching we put the focus on the fellas on our newest episode on Petite & Sweet TV. This week, our wonderful partner, Creative Bag and ourselves will put all our girly instincts aside to teach you how to plan an event for that special man in your life. Whether it’s for Father’s day, a birthday, anniversary, or just simply because, make him feel special with these simple tricks.

image

We wanted to show our viewers how simple it can be to create a theme that the men would appreciate. We chose to focus on a “Business Man” theme for our first table. As always, we took our inspirations, including cigars, newspapers, suits, and oranges and created a mood board to organize our thoughts.

image

It’s a fact that all men love food, but the “Business Man” tends to enjoy the finer things in life. Keeping our tale sophisticated, we placed chocolate covered almonds in glass jars, chocolate cupcakes with orange zest buttercream topped with pistachios, and chocolate cigars on our table. Treat your guy to delicious cupcakes by following the recipe below!

image

           image

This week we brought a special guest on the show, Sabrina Greer, who designed a specialty cocktail for our “Business Man.” Take a look below for a recipe to the delicious Not-So-Old-Fashioned signature cocktail with bourbon and orange zest.

image

Whether they enjoy it or not, the business men in our lives wear suits daily and often read the paper. To add a special touch to this table, we covered our table with Newspaper printed wrapping paper. We also placed napkins folded as dress shirts on the table. To learn how you can create these original napkins at home, follow the six easy steps below.

Printables are a must on any Petite & Sweet table as they add an element of creativity. We wanted the guys to have some fun at his party, so we created some funny photo-booth props that you can download and print for free below!

When the business day is over, there are few men who wouldn’t want to unwind by watching a game on the couch. For our second table, we took cues from favourite sports like golf and baseball as well as the colours white, green, and red.

image

This table featured delicious chocolate covered bacon, chocolate cupcakes, white chocolate caramelized ‘baseball’ macarons that we drew on with red edible marker, and cake pops. Bacon is definitely an all time favourite food, if you’d like to make chocolate covered bacon at home, just follow the recipe below.

image

Sabrina Greer worked her magic once again to create a specialty cocktail called The Gold Medal. Made with tons of cold beer and topped with pickles and more bacon, the lucky guy in your life will definitely owe you one when you make him this satisfying drink by following the recipe below.

imageTo customize this table, we used wooden risers from Creative Bag, and painted them green with white field lines to complete our “Sporty Dad” look.

image

Once again, for a little fun, we created a large foam finger with MVD (most valuable dad or most valuable dude) written on it. You can download the printables for free below!

Weekly Round-Up, Vol. 2

Last week was a doozy!

We kicked off Monday with a 12 ft. long sweet table for Sloane Capital Corp. for the PCMA event held at the Exchange Tower in downtown Toronto. Our previous table for Sloane Capital Corp. was classy and sophisticated. This time, we aimed to keep it sophisticated but more modern.

With berry tarts, cake pops, macarons, and custom popcorn boxes, chocolate bars, and chocolate cigars, it was a (delicious) smash!

image

image

On Wednesday, we shot a new video for our Youtube channel, PetiteandSweetTV, that was tailored for men. Expect alcohol, desserts… and maybe even bacon!

image

Friday, we had one two events at Holt Renfrew Yorkdale. The first was the launch of a new fragrance by Jo Malone. Silk Blossom is light and refreshing, perfect for the summer months!

image

On the same day, we created a coffee table floral installation for Edie Parker, composed of peonies and garden roses. The clutches floated above the flowers to create a magical effect.

image

image

image

image

This week we also launched our partnership with Pusateri’s! We’ll share more about this very soon. Prepping to deliver to three stores can be a lot of work but with a great team, the job gets done quickly!

image

We finished the week off with a classic summertime treat. We created a lemonade stand for Oliver Peoples at Holt Renfrew Yorkdale. Who says you’re too old for lemonade stands?

Until next week,

Weekly Round-Up, Vol. 01

Hey everyone! Welcome to the first edition of our Weekly Round-Up!

Now that spring has (finally) sprung and summer is on its way, things are getting crazy busy around here. We have so much to do throughout the week that we think we should share them with you all!

image

This week on #macaronmondays we featured our Espresso macaron, our favourite dessert to take with coffee!

image

image

The warm weather this week really got us in the mood to celebrate Spring. We also did some Spring cleaning and made some major changes to our office set-up! Taking care of business, indeed.

image

image

An event for Telus Health this week required macarons made in their signature colours. Packing 1,350 of these macarons was no joke!

And finally, this week Holt Renfrew hosted the LuxInside exhibition at Yorkdale Shopping Centre. It was a pleasure to cater this event full of fabulous French cuisine, fashion, art, and science, all put together in a beautiful setting.

Happy Easter!

You’ve asked and we’ve listened! Owner and host of  Petite and Sweet TV, Elle Daftarian has partnered with Creative Bag to walk you through her process of designing Petite & Sweet signature dessert tables! Once you’ve seen the episode, visit us here for free recipes and printables that we’ll be posting to make it a little easier for  you to create your very own tables.

With Easter just around the corner, we’ve decided to throw an Easter party!

image

This may seem like a lot, but putting together a sweet table doesn’t have to be time consuming or stressful. Take a look below for Elle Daftarian’s easy six-step guide on how you can easily recreate this look!

Step One:

To simplify the process, always start by creating an inspiration board to guide yourself and keep the planning on track. Check out the one we created for our Easter Sweet table below! Remember to keep in mind a color pallet as you’re gathering your images. We recommend choosing two to four colors.

image

Step Two:

This is the time to figure out the food you’d like to have on your table. We strongly believe that you should give your guests the option of two to four bite sized treats. We’ve used cakepops, coconut egg nest cupcakes, marshmallows, and candy in our pastel color pallet. Check out the recipe for our delicious coconut egg nest cupcakes with chocolate buttercream below!

 image

Step Three:

The third step is to figure out a drink option to offer your guests. Keeping our color pallet in mind, we’ve chosen a pink lemonade for our festive Easter table.

image

Step Four:

We believe that a great way to customize your table is to create pintables. Our talented graphics team has created some fun pintables for you to use or your own Easter tables including some fun photo booth props. Check out the link and have some fun!

Step Five:

Our favorite part of this process is putting together all the pieces to bring the table to life. In order to do that, you’re going to need to gather objects that you can use for vessels and tie in all those beautiful colors by using ribbons, flowers, risers and décor. We’re lucky enough to have Creative Bag  as our partner! Take a look at their website for everything you see on our table today, and a whole lot more!

image

Step Six:

Our final step is to have fun and put everything together!

image

Please subscribe to Petite and Sweet TV and follow us on our social media outlets, Instgram, Facebook and Twitter for updates on when each video will be released!

If you have the chance to create your own Easter sweet tables, send us your pictures for us to share with our followers!

Please share your thoughts with us in the comment section!

Stay sweet and have an incredible Easter!

Our Crazy Week in Review

Petite and Sweet just went through quite an eventful week and we are very excited to share the details!

Petite and Sweet was asked to design a cake for our favourite Canadian artist, Drake, for his 27th birthday held at Blowfish Restaurant this past Wednesday in Toronto. Well that’s no pressure!! After a lot of thinking, we decided to keep the cake classy and simple. For a man who has everything and sees everything, sometimes less is more.

Take a look at the before and after shot of Drake’s birthday cake. Happy birthday Drake! We wonder what you wished for. ;)

On the same day we catered for BVtea, presenting fashions and bling from the merchant of Bayview Village. The proceeds of this event went to The Gerry & Nancy Pencer Brain Tumor Centre at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. We’d like to give a special thank you to Stacey and Cele from Lounge Furniture Rentals for making us a part of such a beautiful event!

If that wasn’t exciting enough, we then put together a breakfast for the queen of lifestyle herself, Martha Stewart at The Delicious Food Show!  She was so impressed with all our delicious treats that she asked our very own, Elle Daftarian, to help cut the amazing cake we designed especially for her. Take a look at how we brought the breakfast and our booth at the Delicious Food Show to life from start to finish below!

Our girls putting together the booth.

We shared our booth with Pluck Teas, our favourite tea brand! The favourite treat of the weekend was the lychee jasmine macaron, designed with Pluck Teas Spadina blend.

A before and after of the front entrance installation.

Take a look at the breakfast we put together for Martha Stewart!

And finally, here’s Alex with the talented Chuck Hughes! We’re sure this was must have made her day!

Stay Sweet!

SALUTE TO THE END OF SUMMER!

Nothing refreshes on a hot summer day like drinks & treats made with tangy-cool citrus fruits, and nothing is more summertime-vivacious than the bright & cheerful colours they wear. With the last long weekend of summer just days ahead, the Petite & Sweet team give a cool toast to the balmier days of the year with a beautiful Late Summer Citrus-inspiration.

With our palette of pink grapefruit, lemonade yellow, and cool lime green, we created this sweet table, cocktail recipe & a chic take-away treat for your guests that would be a hit at any hot-weather celebration!

STAY SWEET,

xo Elle

Eligible Magazine presents: Toronto’s Most Eligible Bachelor/Bachelorette Auction for SickKids

Last week, at a sexy & sweet pre-Valentines event to benefit Sick Kids Hospital, the Petite & Sweet team took part in Eligible Magazine’s Bachelor/Bachelorette auction, held at Arcadian Court & hosted by Bachelor Canada winner Brad Smith & his lovely fiancée, Bianka Kamber.

Catered by Oliver & `Bonacini , the night featured some of the most eligible single men and women Toronto has to offer, and also, some of the city’s tastiest gourmet treats!

As the exclusive dessert sponsor of this stylish event, we knew we had to make something memorable, so we created this one-of-a-kind custom sweet table to showcase what we offer, designed entirely in foamcore to replicate our very own Rosedale boutique. We kept the backdrop simple in our signature black & white so that the desserts and the amazing peacock floral installation (all done in eye-pleasing shades of deep purple, lavender and lilac) could stand out and shine before all the event’s guests.

A big thank you to everyone involved, for the night was a gorgeous success!
